Lately, I've noticed an increase in messages from chat apps such as WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram, and the constant ding of notifications has been breaking my concentration, so I decided to turn off the notification sounds.
Badges still appear on the screen, so I hopefully I won't miss important messages. Since my family and friends know my phone number, they would call me in case of an emergency.
When I had the chance to tell a friend that I had turned off my notification sounds, she understood me, saying, "I get it, the messages just keep coming." My partner, who knows I struggle with real-time communication, also understood my decision.
With the notification sounds off, it might sound too dramatic, but I feel like I can focus more on living my life, which makes me really happy.
