My two square meter garden log - 3 Sep 2023 / 2㎡の庭の記録 2023年9月3日
It was a carrot harvesting day. You may see they are in a quite modest size but they are largest carrot we could grow so far in our gardening life 😁 We were happy and harvested in total 6-7 carrots and enjoyed the fresh taste.
I was at the balcony as usual on Sundays and found a carrot head popped out. Looked like a large one under neath.
Then we harvested the first batch with a surprise purple carrot.
My daughter was so happy and she pulled some more young ones 😅 That's gardening with kids. They cannot wait!
I will buy some more carrot seeds and we will sow them next week for winter. It's really fun to have carrots in the mini balcony 🥕
Other than that, we are saving beans. We keep our favorite fire bean pods on the plants to harvest seeds for next year. The beans are the 4th generation at our place.
And the lima beans made first pot dried. I was so excited to open the pod.
There they are! They are exactly the same to their parents those I got from a Spanish bean keeper. So nice to see the beautiful pattern on it. Like I mint tomato NFTs, I think about minting "Beautiful Beans" NFTs on 
Young plants for autumn/winter for the community garden I maintain grows well.
But the recent vandalism to the plants at the community garden, in a way I fear to plant them ... Kales are damaged, tomatoes were pulled from the plants, two blue berry plants and basil bush were pulled out and gone 😢 I tried to search for the missing plants around so that I could replant them but they weren't there.
If you manage plants in a public space and have a good tip how to protect them, I would love to learn from you. One psychological technique my partner told me is to put eyes somewhere as if they were seeing people. Then less people behave in a bad manner because of the eyes. I may try this.
I don't want to end this post with my complaint. Here is a photo of how my whole balcony look like. Plants are strong. They are just keep on living, making next generation 😊

いつものように日曜の朝をバルコニーで過ごしていたら、ニンジンの頭が飛び出ているのをみつけました。下には結構大きなニンジンが育っているかも？？
子供を呼んで抜いてみるか聞くと大喜びで抜いてくれました。その他にもよく葉っぱが育っているものをみつけて抜いては洗って食べてを繰り返し・・・もう少し育ってほしいのも抜いて食べていました 😅 合計6～7本のニンジンを収穫して、新鮮な味を楽しみました。
これ、小さく見えるし、実際お店で売っているものよりは全然小さいのですが、我が家では多分最高記録です。
ニンジンの種は使い切ってしまったので、来週種を買って、秋冬用にまた育てようと思います。間に合ってほしい・・・！
他には、豆の種とりも始まりました。紅花インゲンの鞘がいい感じに膨らんできて、今年も無事種をとれそうです。栽培、種とりともに簡単で、紅花インゲンは今年で4代目です。きれいな紫の地に黒い斑点の豆がとれます。
ライ豆は一足先に鞘が乾いて、どきどきで開けました。スペインの伝統種の収集・栽培家から分けてもらったもので、もらったのと同じ豆が入ってるー！！！このきれいな模様といったらもう。。トマトのNFTが落ち着いたら、秋冬は Beautiful Beans みたいな豆のNFTシリーズを作りたいななんて 😊
コミュニティーガーデン用に育てている秋冬の葉物の苗もいい感じに育っているのですが、先日、Rant, Complain, Talkコミュニティーにも投稿したように、植物荒らしがあって、植えるのが楽しみであり怖くもあり。
ケールが折られて、トマトは株からもぎとられ、ブルーベリー2株とバジルは引き抜かれてどこかに持っていかれてしまいました 😢 どこかに捨てられていたら、植え直せば復活するかなと近所を探してみたものの見つからず。
公共の場で植物を管理していて、植物を守る良いヒントをお持ちの方がいたら教えていただきたいです。うちの相方が心理学の実験で、「人を見るような目」を置いておくと、その目を気にして悪さをする人が減るそうです。試してみようかと思います。
私の愚痴でこの投稿を終わらせたくないので、最後にバルコニー全体の写真を。植物は強いです。花を咲かせて、次の世代を作りながら、人間や人間の悩みなんてどこ吹く風といった感じで生き続けているようです。これ、コロナの時にも植物を見ていて感じたことです 😊
