It seems the hot weather calmed down and it will be around 20 degrees or less in Germany. I water plants more frequently than in early spring. I enjoyed watering having Austrian rose wine with a nice tomato label.
But still I am not confident enough to plant summer vegetables such as tomatoes outside. So they are still staying inside. I put them windowsill all over the apartment so that they can catch as much as sunlight.
We continue harvesting salad leaves and herbs from the balcony. Other than that ... asparagus now grows like a tree. My daughter calls it "mini Christmas tree" 🎄 I thought some more comes out but it's only the one. So my harvest is postponed to next year. That's gardening!
Today it was twice a year plant market day at the University Botanical Garden. Around 40 nurseries come to sell their plants. There are more annuals at the market in Spring and more perennials and trees in Autumn.
I always visit this market to see and buy plants, and I had other purpose this time. A lady I got to know at a local market was selling her plants. She is specialized in plants from the region. I bought a pot of Margaret.
I look forward to have the flowers in the balcony for us and for insect visitors. Talking about flowers, lavenders are about to blooming. I also look forward to the lavender smell and the flowers.
That's it. I look forward to plant summer veggies after 15th May. It's said in Germany that until mid May, still there is a chance that "kalte Sophie" (cold Sophie) may come.
Happy gardening 🌿
