In early fall, I decided to donate a fixed percentage of my income and started saving 10% of my German income into a donation account. Then interesting things started happening.
I had a vague idea of where I wanted to donate the money, that were close to me, such as local community gardens. Once I started really saving the money for donations, I began to find projects and organizations that need donation. I think it was similar to how I saw pregnant women and strollers when I got to know I was pregnant.
I have made two donations so far, the first to a community place in "Japan House" where I visit sometimes and join/help events, and the second to a community garden that I met the people at a local market before. They had recently had its facilities vandalized and robbed. I donated 50 euros (a little over 7,500 yen) each.
I know it feels like chicken and egg, but if you are thinking about donating money, start actually saving your money, and then you may start to see where you can donate 😊
I'm happy that I can support projects with a good cause in the region.
