November and December in Germany are cold and dark, so it was gardening break for me except for taking care of indoor plants.
In January, I started planning for the next season, selecting seeds, and getting in the gardening mood 💪
This year I decided to set goals with a number that would be easy to evaluate:
- 10 varieties of tomatoes
- 10 varieties of flowers
Of course there are many more things I want to do, but first, these two goals are good start.
The reason for tomatoes is simply because I love tomatoes, and if I grow them in the containers in the community garden in front of the market hall, market visitors also can enjoy them. As for flowers, I've grown to love them more and more each gardening season, and I enjoyed cut flowers so much last year that I wanted to focus on them this year.
I'm going to try not to over-plan my balcony at home this year. I grow a steady supply of herbs, lettuce, bitter melons, strawberries, and other things that my family will be certainly happy to eat.
I also got a budget of 2,500 euros from the state for a micro-green indoor experiment, so I hope to create something I can enjoy with the market community. I will write this as one separate post.
I will take time to choose varieties this month and order seeds from my favorite nursery outside Berlin. As I write this post, I am excited to gardening more and more.

ドイツの11月と12月は寒くて暗いので、ガーデニングはインドアの植物の手入れをする程度でほぼお休みしていました。
1月に入って次のシーズンの計画を立てたり、種を選んだり、気分が上がってきました。
今年は評価しやすい数値目標を立ててみようと思い「トマトを10種類、花を10種類育てる」という目標を立てました。もちろんまだまだやりたいことはたくさんあるのですが、頑張れば達成できそうな目標をまず。
なぜトマトかと言うと単に私がトマトが大好きだからで、マーケットホールのコミュニティガーデンのコンテナで育てれば、マーケットのお客さんにも楽しんでもらえるからです。花は、ガーデニングシーズンを重ねるごとに好きになっていって、去年は切り花をずいぶん楽しんだので、今年は重点的に取り組みたいなと思いました。
自宅のバルコニーは盛り込みすぎずにハーブ、レタス、ゴーヤ、いちごなど、家族で確実に食べるものを堅実に育てようと思います。
あとは、マイクログリーンのインドア農場の実験に州から2500ユーロ（約40万円）の予算がついたので、地域のみなさんと楽しめるものを作れたらいいな。これはまた別途一つの投稿として書こうと思います。
今月中に品種を選んでお気に入りのドイツのベルリン郊外の種苗店に種を注文します。この投稿を書いていたらますますガーデニングが楽しみになってきました。
