Plagiarism is the act of copying and dispensing someone else work and trying to claim you owRn the content whereas it’s a copy and paste content.
Before I joined this community, that was about four months ago, sincerely I know nothing about plagiarism but as time goes on, when I started getting downvotes from members of this community then I understood what plagiarism is being handled here on POB.
Fews weeks ago I decided to ask my project supervisor in school how plagiarism is being handled in the educational sector, then told me a scenario that happened in the department few years ago, that was before I gained admission to the school. I was really shocked by the story.
So it happens to a lecturer in the department who happens to be a PhD student as well in the department, so when he was defending his PhD work the external supervisor who came to supervised him went through his work and spotted out the plagiarism, and he asked the student (the PhD student) why he copied word for word and why he also has refused to reference it, but the student in question started claiming he owns the content. The supervisor referred to plagiarism as an act of stolen someone else’s contents, he got angry and decided to fail him, well I’ll say he (the PhD student) failed himself.
So the department also failed him and also reported him to the school management for plagiarism and he was dismissed from his lecturing job as well.
That was when I realize why plagiarism is not acceptable everywhere including POB.
The reason why I decided to write this post is because I went through some posts not quiet long and I discovered how some posts was downvoted badly.
So I urge every member of the community that doesn’t know much about plagiarism to try as much as possible to write things on their own, it’s not necessary you write a story book before getting a nice upvotes, write a short and reasonable article that’s all.
