Hello, beautiful ladies on Hive!

My 41st birthday was fast approaching when a strange, almost crazy thought quietly bloomed in my heart - though I knew it was far from likely to come true. I found myself wishing to receive a bouquet of flowers. Funny, right? (Sigh!) I won’t lie, I admit that there are moments when I feel insecure, a little jealous, and deeply tired all at once. I’m in awe of how, in His own beautiful ways, God always finds a way to embrace me with blessings, little reminders that my wishes were never taken for granted. Not in the exact form I imagined, but in ways far more meaningful, in ways He knows I deserve. He knows how deeply I’m fascinated by flowers. And it’s as if He’s saying, “I won’t give you just a bouquet - you deserve a whole park in bloom, and a festival of flowers instead.” For the past 40 years of my life, I was used to celebrating my birthday without any special significance, just another ordinary day, with no events or holidays to mark it. But that changed on my 41st birthday. Three days before the date, I discovered something beautiful, March 4, my birthday, is actually a local holiday here in Palawan. What makes it even more special is that it marks Palawan’s Founding Anniversary, as well as the Balayong Festival, an annual celebration inspired by the blooming of the balayong tree. Balayong is a local tree, also called the "Palawan Cherry Blossom" because of its resemblance to Japan’s cherry blossoms. This vibrant festival showcases not only the tree’s delicate pink blossoms, but also the rich and colorful culture of Palawan. Who would have thought that 3 years before, I spent my birthday painting flowers and now I am celebrating it alongside a flower festival. It feels as though the universe has carefully gathered every vibrant color and brushed them across the canvas of my life, leading me to this very moment, where I realize that sometimes, I don't just stop from being the artist, but deserve to be also the muse of a masterpiece. And God, I don’t quite know how to thank You enough for this beautiful, flourishing gift on my birthday. I know Palawan carries on unaware of how much this moment means to me, how deeply I cherish celebrating this festival on the very day I was born. But God knows, and in the quiet corner of my heart, I am in blissful celebration. And of course, I couldn’t let my birthday pass without celebrating it, even if I was on my own. I had plans for the day. I woke up early and attended the first Mass. In that quiet moment, I found myself overwhelmed with gratitude, unable to thank God enough for all the blessings He has given me over the past 41 years. After the Mass, I went straight to Balayong People’s Park. True to its name, it is a leisure park here in Puerto Princesa, created to celebrate the beauty of the balayong tree. March to April is when these trees are in full bloom, painting the park in soft hues of white and pink. As I strolled through the park, staring at those lovely petals for the very first time in my life, I paused and drew a deep breath. In that quiet moment, I once again thanked God with genuine sincerity.
