If there is one thing that all of us round our heads more than once in life is the possibility of life beyond our planet. Long ago Perhaps this answer was only in the sci-fi movies, but today science has clarified this issue to be sure that there must be thousands of habitable planets like ours.

The term extraterrestrial life refers to the hypothetical forms of life that may have originated, existed, or still exist in other parts of the universe, outside of the planet Earth.

A Colossal Universe

To begin with, we are going to place ourselves as a species in the vastness of the universe. According to the Kardashov scale, there are three types of intelligent civilizations based on the amount of energy they use: type I civilization uses all the energy of their planet in a sustainable way; The type II, all the energy of the star of its planetary system; and type III controls all the energy in your galaxy, which includes colonizing it and even exploring other galaxies. There is a model that represents that the discovery of fire by Homo Habilis gave our civilization the category of 0.1. Carl Sagan calculated that we are currently at a level of type 0.7 and it is said that we will reach type I in 100 or 200 years; That we will reach type II in 1,000 years and type III within hundreds of thousands of years.

Our galaxy contains about 200 billion stars and, for each of them, there are so many other galaxies in the observable universe. Many stars have planetary systems and some studies conclude that there must be 100,000,000,000,000,000 of Earth-like planets. If only 1% of these exotierras had life, and of them only 1% would harbor intelligent life, there would be 10,000,000,000,000,000 of intelligent civilizations in space and, consequently, 100,000 in our galaxy.

But do not think that by reading this you can safely say that there is intelligent life beyond our planet because, how is it possible that we have not perceived or trace them? Here is the Fermi paradox, which adds to many other theories and questions that we still have to answer about life in the universe.

The paradox can be summarized as follows: the common belief that the universe possesses numerous technologically advanced civilizations, combined with our observations suggesting quite the opposite is paradoxical suggesting that our Knowledge or our observations are defective or incomplete.

And then, why don't we have "evidence" of extraterrestrial life?

Well, to understand this I leave a video that will help you answer this question...

Nowadays it is difficult to give with affirmation of this, there is or not life beyond our knowledge, but let us be logical, in a universe that expands with such speed, that the time that the universe has existed, it is very selfish to think that we are the only ones , because if we get to think and use the imagination, maybe somewhere in the universe, this a civilization, a one if people are thinking the same as you, are we alone? Only that by circumstance, the distance that is from one point to another is gigantic, that you difficult the communication or give a trace of its existence between us, whether you are religious or not, you have to be aware that this universe is sufficient that will make inevitable Thinking that there is or was someone out there...
