I'm now one week old on steemit and between last week and now I've learnt quite a few things both from the internet and my mentor, @tojukaka and a few other helpful people on steemit. First of all, I'd like to thanks everyone who welcomed me with love and supported me. I'm really grateful for everything. All the upvotes, comments, resteems and even the follows. It meant a lot. 41 followers in 7 days, to me is big since I've not been posting much. That's however only because I want to learn the ropes around here and make some friends before I resume posting.
This morning, I asked myself an important question I think we should ask ourselves daily, "Am I making any impact on Steemit?". Many of us are on steemit just for the monetary benefits and rewards and all we chase after is upvotes and follows. We should instead be thinking of ways to add value to the platform. @tojukaka for example does this through his sunday selfies contest here and also his very helpful series on videos for newbies.
I've been thinking of ways to add value Steemit and not just making money and I think we should all do that too.
I really thank my mentors for teaching me that it's wrong to ask for follows or upvotes, instead you should create good content that people cannot but love so much they'll upvote, resteem and even follow you for more.
Also, this morning while reading a post by @michelle.gent I learnt the importance of patience. Many of us want to become whales instantly without even working for us. This post sank it deep down in me that becoming a whale might take even years. Patience and consistency is however the key. Also it's vital to add value to the platform. Though I've only grown my reputation from 25 to 41 and earned a few bucks which might be quite insignificant compared to what some other people earn, I've learnt a lot and I want to share it with you all. Please share the love by resteeming and let other learn. If you have any other advice that may be helpful to others and even to me, put it in the comments. There's love in sharing and that's what steemit is about.
Share the love yall
