I heard the distant sound of rain pelting down on the rooftops in my neighbourhood but not yet on my roof.

I paused for a moment to confirm that it was raining because I know it wouldn't take long before it starts falling on my roof too but it seemed to take longer than I expected - and there it is!

For a moment, I recognised what the sound of the rain did to me - it snapped me out of my thoughts.

It was good thoughts though. It felt good replaying how I got here.

Immediately, I snatched myself out of the bed to begin my morning rituals and my favourite part is meditating and affirming all the good things that I can see and training my mind to see them.

I do not indulge in ambiguity because the people, the place and the atmosphere I kept seeing was not ephemeral. It was real and here I am today.

The other day, Tammy was patient enough to interprete some facts for me.
You should give up this dream of ever heading this department. She said.

Tammy is an amazing work-turned-life friend that has made it easier for me to explain the idea of someone having your back at all times.

The only fact I was up against then was that I am a lady and that was not enough to stop me.

Three times my hopes were dashed until I aimed better.

Was it being confident or being respectful and commanding respect or all best qualities that suits the position? I got them checked.

The necessary qualifications? It was all checked and beyond the requirements.

I was drowned in the habits of personally approving myself over and over again until the idea to aim higher was birthed.

Higher?

Yes! Higher was it and it brought me before the real bosses.

Seizing the opportunity and not resting on my oars, they discovered what the company needs and that's me.

The gender inequality, oppression, unhealthy competition and rancour pervading the atmosphere impedes the true yields of and for the company.

Therefore, my stand.

I am the invictus, I stand to be different because I am.
