Sometimes I have long pauses between the type of subjects I like to paint/sketch for my own practice. Either because commissions are in progress or my unwillingness to do anything artsy. Which can happen when you are doing art everyday. It is easy to feel overworked, out of ideas or even a little less enthusiastic for something you love.
Generally when the unwillingness hits me, I jump to Pinterest simply because of visual pleasure. You can just absorb art without having to think further and just enjoy. The next is looking at portrait shots there.... again! (Yes yes I love Pinterest). It just happened to me some weeks ago and I went on a spree of making portraits all week! It was supposed to last for a day but I found so much enjoyment that it filled in the joy of creating. You could call it a way to trick your brain and lure it to the idea of making “pretty artwork too”
