As someone who draws inspiration from surroundings, a “go-to” art kit has always proved to be handy for me. It is always something that I have with me (on a casual basis) when I am away from home for a few days/weeks. Interchanging many supplies over the years has enabled me to form my ideal art supplies which I can use wherever I go.
There are a few things which are always constant like pencils, art pens, erasers and other basic stationery. I carry them in such a way that I can sketch/illustrate or paint if I feel like at that moment.
Mostly I keep sketchbooks which is made for multiple media and I don’t need to carry separate ones and add weight. (Smaller sketchbooks are more convenient to me) Paints are mostly in a smaller container than what I used here which has all the important colors. ( I ran out of colors in the small one :P) I will soon be switching to brush pens because obviously they make your life 10 times easier.
But for now, these 3 brushes of different sizes and styles are perfect for any idea that I may have. I don’t do a lot of plein air so this setup has worked for me so far. The Hahnemühle sketchbook has served to be a great one till now although I will most likely replace it with a slightly larger one :)
What about you artlings? Do you have an “essential bag”?
