The Hampstead Meetinghouse is a historic meeting house which like many buildings of that era was once the town hall. Also typical for buildings of the time the Meeting House served different purposes to the town.
It was a town hall, a place for the townspeople to gather, and various religious activities. Construction began in 1749, but not ready for full use until 1768.
This historic building is in pretty good shape and a good example of 18th-century meetinghouses located in southern New Hampshire.
