Hey steemers!
My post today will be about a topic that is currently on everyone's lips: Superfood!
But what is this so-called superfood?
In general, foods with a higher nutrient content and therefore particularly good for health are called superfood.
They all have different properties in common: slimming products, health promoters, energy donors.
A real superfood should fulfill the following criteria:
❈ It provides a very large quantity of one or more nutrients, active ingredients or vital substances and significantly more than the usual foods.
❈ It is also as natural as possible and comes from organic production or wild growth.
❈ A superfood does not have to taste delicious to be a superfood.
❈ A superfood doesn't have to be easy to snack, and it doesn't have to be expensive, as is apparently often assumed by a superfood.
❈ A real superfood can, but does not have to, come from far away tropical or arctic regions. Superfoods also grow right on your doorstep.
In my case (Germany) for example: oregano, parsley, nettle, dandelion, home-grown broccoli sprouts, raw sauerkraut, barley grass and many more.
So, here are my Top 5 Superfood:
The açai berry is one of the most famous superfood. The flesh of the fruit contains antioxidant substances.
However, evidence of the health benefits this has brought to humans has not yet been provided.
Chia seeds from Mexico are repeatedly advertised with various health promises.
Although they are a good source of polyunsaturated fatty acids and proteins; their nutrient content and digestive effect are comparable to linseed.
Blueberries are attributed the properties of a superfood. One reason for this is that blueberries are rich of anthocyanins. These are said to slow down and even kill the growth of cancerous cells in the large intestine.
In addition, blueberries contain other antioxidants that have been shown in animal experiments to prevent and in part reverse memory loss due to old age.
The common buckthorn is said to be very nutritious. The fruits, also called goji berries, provide vitamins and minerals, just like other fruits. According to advertising they are supposed to protect against free radicals by the large quantity of contained antioxidants. They are marketed as a "natural anti-aging source".
Yacon, also known as Inca root, has root tubers with the indigestible carbohydrate inulin; this contributes to the targeted promotion of desired intestinal bacteria that stimulate the metabolism. The stems are eaten as vegetables. The tubers are more strongly promoted as a dietary, low-energy food, especially in Japan.
Hope you enjoyed my post and stay healthy!
