Who here spent their childhood fighting zombies with plants?
Honestly I was so shocked when I opened the Play Store and saw PvZ is still there.
Back then I used to play it on PC at the internet cafe, now I can relive the nostalgia straight on my Android phone.
The feeling is different, but the excitement is still the same.
It instantly reminded me of my teenage years back in 2009.
The Loading Screen That Gives Me Nostalgia
Just seeing this picture instantly gives me flashbacks.
The Sunflower is smiling, the Peashooter is ready to shoot, the Wall-nut is ready to be our shield, and on the other side there are regular Zombies and Conehead Zombies already peeking, ready to attack.
Back in the day, every time I heard the "Zombies are coming" music on PC, my heart would start racing.
Now playing it on my phone, the vibes are still the same.
The bright colors and cartoon design really make this game not scary at all.
The Iconic Main Menu
This is our home.
There's a nameplate that says "Agst", a big tree, and a tombstone that reads ADVENTURE - MORE WAYS TO PLAY.
Adventure Mode is the heart of PvZ.
The story is simple: the zombies want to get into our house. Our job? Stop them.
In the corner, there's the Zen Garden where you can plant decorative plants.
I used to love opening the Zen Garden after a stressful day at work and just chilling while listening to the music.
Pick Your Level + New Plants
I'm already on Level 7 now.
Every time we level up, we get a new plant.
Level 4 unlocks Sunflower, Level 5 unlocks Potato Mine, Level 6 unlocks Snow Pea, and at Level 7 we get Chomper.
What makes this game so addictive is the strategy. You really have to think.
Which plants should I bring? You only get 10 slots. Pick the wrong ones and you're instantly doomed.
Below that, there are other game modes too: DAY, NIGHT, POOL, FOG, ROOF.
Honestly, the Roof mode used to give me the biggest headache back then.
The Battle Begins: The Calm Before the Storm
This is how Level 7 starts, the field is still empty.
You can already see the zombies in the distance, walking slowly toward us.
There are some wearing hats, and even a Running Zombie in a basketball jersey.
Right at this moment, your brain starts racing:
"Should I collect sun first or start shooting?"
Blink for just 1 second and they can cross 3 tiles instantly.
Strategy Starts: Sun Is The Key
Here’s the real gameplay.
On the left, you can see the plant selection and their costs: Peashooter 100, Sunflower 50, Cherry Bomb 150.
At the top, I’ve got 175 sun.
The rule is simple:
Collect sun → Plant Sunflowers → Generate more sun → Spam Peashooters.
And if things get out of hand?
Each lane has a Lawn Mower as your "ace card."
But you can only use it once.
Mid Battle: Things Are Getting Chaotic
Alright, now it’s getting busy.
Front line: Wall-nuts holding the defense.
Middle line: Snow Peas to slow them down.
Back line: Peashooters and Sunflowers working together to deal damage and generate sun.
The zombies are already turning blue from the slow effect.
See that Conehead Zombie? He has 2x more HP than a regular zombie.
Without those Wall-nuts, they would’ve broken through by now.
FINAL WAVE!!! Heart Attack Mode
When you see the big red FINAL WAVE text like this, it means it’s the last wave.
The music instantly speeds up and makes your heart race.
In this screenshot I’ve got 925 sun saved up.
Calm... but don’t get too comfortable yet.
Because...
Zombie Wave + Flag Zombies
SEE?!
The moment the Final Wave hits, the zombies come in groups and some of them are even carrying flags.
There are Running Zombies, Coneheads, and even one wearing a wizard hat.
But look at our defense:
5 Peashooters, 4 Snow Peas, 5 Sunflowers, 5 Wall-nuts, and 3 Potato Mines.
It’s all set up perfectly.
Now I just sit back and watch them fall one by one... while collecting 2000 coins in the corner
Playing PvZ on my phone really feels like meeting an old friend. The gameplay is still simple: tower defense + resource management. But it’s so addictive because every level throws a new challenge at you.
