Dadurch, dass auf der Insel ein sehr mildes Klima herrscht, lohnt es sich hier Obst und Gemüse anzubauen. Neben der eigentlichen Landwirtschaft auf Zypern, werden Obst-, Gemüse- und Getreidesorten oft privat angebaut. Fast jeder griechische Zypriote hat ein kleines Stückchen Land, auf welchem er für den Eigenbedarf anbauen darf. Nicht nur das die Plantagen auf Zypern so gewalttätig groß sind, sie duften manchmal auch so angenehm das man einfach nicht nur vorbeigehen kann.
