The Qilin
When I saw @shaka's barren landscape template (Round #192) of the LMAC Collage Contest), I viewed that open space as an invitation to fill the image with my own ideas.

I've never read a Harry Potter book, but, late nights, when I'm channel surfing on cable, I do come across movies based on the series. I must admit to being charmed by some of the sweet characters introduced. Chief among these is the Chillin, an entity so good that it detects good in others and is an infallible judge of that quality.
Here's a Youtube clip that shows the Chillin in action:
This week, as I was searching for a collage theme, I thought of giraffes. These have been much on my late-night, Ipad-viewing schedule recently. These animals are such gentle creatures that focusing on them helps me go to sleep.
So, my collage would somehow feature giraffes. Then I looked for mythology based on giraffes and, voilá, I discovered the qilin, the mythical creature upon which the Harry Potter Chillin is based (Qilin/Chillin?).
In the Qin Dynasty a giraffe was introduced to the court and this animal was characterized as the mythological qilin--an entity that could see into the future and only appeared during the reign of a good ruler.
The qilin set the theme for my collage.

I used Lunapic filters for several stages of this collage. To create the final image I used Gimp, Paint3d and Paint.
Here are a few stages in my development process:
LMAC and LIL
The value of LIL in my efforts is obvious. Anyone on Hive can contribute to the library and everyone can borrow from it. Learn about the procedure here.
We have had some spectacular contests with handsome prizes this season. Today we are publishing the winners from Round #192 (this round). I don't compete so my collage can come in 'late'. Check out the 15 winners and get an idea of what LMAC artists produce each week.
As @shaka has said many times, everyone is an artist. Round #193 begins tomorrow. Join in the fun. Even though I don't enter the contest, I make collages because I can't resist.
Thank you for reading. Peace and health to all.
