I notice, as I go to appointments with my husband, that there are two worlds. There's one world patients occupy and a world for the well. It's an invisible line. I don't know if the line is in the minds of the patients or everyone else, but I've thought about that word 'patient'. That's the difference I think. The ill are expected to be patient. They wait in doctors' offices. They wait for test results. They wait for the next physical crisis to hit. They wait for rides and for help.

I don't know any way around that, but it is terrible in my mind that we cross an invisible line when we become ill.

Your friend has the sweetest face. I wish for him complete recovery and the fortitude to tolerate being 'patient' until he is well again.
