I can't believe a man wrote this story. Amazing insight.
@deraaa's comment reflects experiences I have had in the past, although I live on the other side of the world and am probably several generations older than she is.
I remember the shock and disgust I felt the first time men (more than one at the same time!) looked at me lasciviously and made comments as I walked down the street. I was twelve, wearing shorts, my body just beginning to show signs of puberty. It was as though the men put me in prison. My freedom to walk the streets unmolested had ended. What a punishment for growing up.
I'm happy to say that at a certain point this stops. Age is the only defense against such intrusion. At my age, I am again free to walk the streets and not be assaulted with rude comments and offensive stares. Of course now, age makes me a target of other villains: muggers 😂.
This is really a wonderful story and you meet the target, creating a scene, with exceptional skill.
