Here we are again, @rakushasu. You begin the story with the most innocuous question.
Did you ever stare into a mirror for a long period of time?
The true terror in life comes when the ordinary betrays us, when the everyday morphs into the bizarre. Isn't this what Kafka does? Gogol, also. Did you ever read The Nose? If not, you will love it.
We are almost annoyed with the narrator for tempting fate, for insisting on challenging a barrier that most of us willingly accept. But, annoyed though we may be, we are also horrified by the eyeball. Of all things, an eyeball looking back at him. It seems this breach of the mirror may threaten the very integrity of the narrator's existence.
Great job!
