Hello @rakushasu,
As I was reading this I of course thought of Poe and his skill at building a sense of horror, without spilling blood. I thought also of a German writer, 19th century, ETA Hoffmann. Most people are familiar with the opera Tales of Hoffmann, but haven't read the stories upon which the opera is based. You have a great talent for horror (and obviously a taste for it). Two stories especially come to mind: The Sandman and The Automata. Hoffmann was very influential in the development of the short story. Hope you don't mind the little introduction. I think you have the sophistication to appreciate this work. And I believe writers get better when they read great writers.
Keep it up :)
