I think if people understand how companies are valued and what the stock market is based on, it creates a lot of opportunity for retail investors to make money off the stock market while Trump is president because he creates so much uncertainty.

Following your rule, only invest what you can lose--my husband plays poker. He's smart, and he wins. But even he knows you there's no sure thing. Chance always plays a role. He follows your rule--only gamble what you can afford to lose.

I think the stock market is like playing poker. You have to be able to read people (anticipate behavior), have to judge the table (understand the investment environment) and then be good with figures--know the chances of winning for every hand you are dealt (know history, behavior of the market in the past, and judge predictability based on that).

I don't play poker because I'm not good at any of those things. I don't play the market because while I think I might have an understanding of history and current events, I don't understand people at all :))
