Well, I think readers can choose to take this as a dream, or they can choose to take it as extra-natural experience. Uncle Jack opens his eyes and feels lighter. Is it because he actually went through the transformative experience, or because he forgave and accepted himself in his own mind?

Doesn't matter. The story is beautiful and thought provoking. I enjoyed it very much.
