When my kids were young and would ask me a question, I think I bored them to tears because I would some sometimes go into such detail. I get carried away. I'm glad that worked here.
Jack London is fascinating. His life raises the age-old question: Better to live vividly, fully (recklessly) and briefly or better to squirrel that time, measure experience and settle for a less vivid life? In a way, I think we all make this decision early in life. He very deliberately chose to soar, burn bright and possibly fall to earth at an early age. Maybe there would have been no Call of the Wild or White Fang if he had chosen otherwise.
