As soon as I saw the word 'Uppsala' something was triggered in the fog of my memory :) I had a sense of history, of legend, of romance, but couldn't put my finger on it. I started reading to refresh my memory and it came to me, the long history of Uppsala in Sweden's past. Your pictures capture that beautifully, especially the Silver Codex. Stockholm is the capital of Sweden today, but I think Uppsala is its heart :)

This is one place I would love to visit, to just be there. In a way the cathedral reminds me of the Ulm Cathedral, except in Ulm there is the bitter sense of history. The shadow of WWII hangs over that city. You get the feeling that the past for Ulm is not really past. I didn't get a peaceful vibe at all there.

It seems my great-great-(great?) grandfather on my father's side emigrated from Ulm when Europe was in crisis. My sister and I visited with a sense of legacy. What we found was hard feelings. Strange. Not like going home at all.

Anyway, wish I could stand in the Cathedral in Uppsala and just be quiet :)
