I woke up to her voice
Peering through my window was a star
Silently I crawled out of my bed
Wearing her favourite nighties, shorts and an over-sized comfort t-shirt
It was cold outside but that star kept calling me
So I walked towards it trying to get close
As fast as I walked it got farther
So I ran towards it
The more I run the farther it got
Exhausted and cold I drop to my knees and scream in frustration
Then I heard it like a whisper
"What do you want"
I look at the star with a lopsided smile
"I want you"
"You can't have me"
"Damnit don't you think I know that" I cuss under my breath and start to cry
"Then if you know that why are you chasing after me"
"Because no matter how far you are you're always in my head I can't seem to forget you,
...you're all I have"
"If the pain is so much then let me go"
Sighing, I smile through my tears "Ok then I'll let you go"
Standing up I winced at me bleeding knees and walk back into the cold dark road
holding nothing but my broken heart
