[Es-En]Top Moño Multiforma con Patrón DIY Multiform Bow Top with Pattern
Happy Monday hivers and sewing lovers, I'm still in love with bow tops. This time I bring you the tutorial of a multiform bow top. Yes, as you can see in the pictures, it is a top that can be used in different ways. I will also show you how to make the pattern to your size. For the materials I used: kraft paper for the pattern, pencil, tape measure, chalk, lycr Sofia fabric, thread, sewing machine, but you can also do it by hand.
Let's first make the pattern of the cup, you just need to measure from the clavicle bone to the center of the nipple, that measure you take it to the paper making a square, divide it into 4 equal parts, one side will be the front and the other rear. On the front side you lower 7 cm, for the back side you raise 6 cm, on the upper part just in the middle you mark one cm on each side. And at the bottom you raise 2 cm and mark 2 cm more on each side as shown in the image. And with a smooth curve round the bottom and the inside at the edges, and then cut as shown in the image.
Once the pattern is ready, we place it on the fabric and cut out 4 pieces of each part, for the lining and the main piece. Also cut the base of your top, in my case it was a strip of the contour of my chest plus 20 cm on each side for the front tie of the top, finally cut the handles that are tied at the neck. First fold the strap in 4, keeping the edges and sew a straight seam. Now we go with the cups, we join a front part with a back part, we fasten with pins and sew through the union in the middle, from this we will have 4 parts. We are going to take 2 facing the right sides, making sure the front with the front and the back with the back, we proceed to sew the sides, leaving the front open and the tip of the cup.
The next step is to cross the braid of the neck through the cup as shown in the picture, and then pass a straight seam inside, so that the strap is sewn. Now we proceed to close the bottom of the cups, with zig zag stitching. Then, we take the base of the top where we place the center to hold the cups from one edge and with the other we embrace it and close it, leaving the cups inside, we fasten with a pin along the entire length of the top closing one end as shown in the image. Then we sew with overlock stitching and turn it over with the help of a stick or pencil that serves to push. Once the piece is on its right side, we sew another seam all along the edge of the top to flatten the seams on the back side.
Hivers, ready the multiform bow top, tie the straps at the neck and play with the shape you want to tie at the base. Here I show you 3 models, which one do you like the most?
