He watched you hop down the stairs
He wished he could rise
& walk with you, hand in hand.

My neighbour sat by the window
Day and night, she was a widow
She watched my family drive home
Every evening, glowing in colours of rainbow
She's lonely but she'll be alright

You stood before the crowd
Dropping your lines, clear and loud
A deaf dipped a finger into his mouth
He had a verse, he wished he could voice it out.
You're a hero someone wishes to be like

I served my family a loaf of bread
For dinner, and fried some eggs
But my neighbour lay there, helpless
Tired of boiling stones for their children
I helped, and gave them a reason to smile

If you could name yourself
When counting the treasures on earth
& I could hit my chest
To see demons tremble and scared
