I understand that people have problems signing up with for example bittrex and so on. In my frustration I found out that blocktrades.us are easy to sign up for and easy to use.
In your wallet, select steem dollars, transfer your steem dollars to "blocktrades" and generate a memo at blocktrades. I got my bitcoin quick after the transfer.
