Most of the desktop operating systems have Screen Mirror, or screen Cast feature.

What I don't like about it is the fact that feature usually uses Wi-Fi.

Video takes a lot of bandwidth and our WiFi routers have more important job to do - to supply internet to all our devices, instead of jamming all the traffic with video.

After trying many options, I finally found a small free, open-source software that works well for me. It's called

scrcpy

That's short from screen-copy.

It uses USB connection to the desktop, of course, the Developer version of the Android device must be unlocked but that's easy to do (the famous seven clicks)

scrcpy has versions for all the major desktop OS - Windows, Mac, Linux.

Here's more on its Wiki, if that would help: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrcpy
