After hitting highs of US$3000 on Monday, the Bitcoin price has plummeted to as low as US$2079.
Bitcoin's cousins, Ripple, Monero and NEM have also been struggling the entire week. Ethereum, the second largest cryptocurrency increased by 20%.
Weakness in the Bitcoin price began after digital currency exchange Coinbase experienced an outage on Monday caused by a spike in trades that day.
Bitfinex, on Tuesday was also under DDoS attack sending chills on investor's backbones as to how secure the cryptocurrency world is.
