Cards From My Personal Collection: Pedro Martinez 2004 Topps Baseball Card
Pedro Martinez on the Boston Red Sox might be the most dominant pitcher I've ever watched. It was just pure excellence for Pedro in New England from 1998-2004. Pedro had a few really good years as a Montreal Expo prior to joining Boston, but it simply doesn't compare to how good Pedro was for the Red Sox for seven seasons. The man was a superstar and is still a living legend. My papou is a Red Sox fan and I know Pedro brought him a lot of joy, which is amazing.
In Pedro's seven years with Boston, Pedro went 117-37 as a starting pitcher, while holding a 2.52 ERA! In 2000, Pedro posted a 1.74 ERA in 29 starts! His numbers are just silly, Pedro was just nasty!
Pedro was a 3x Cy Young winner, an 8x All-Star, and a World Series Champion. He had well over 200 wins and 3,000 strikeouts in his career while maintaining a 2.93 ERA. The guy was incredible and I'm glad I got to watch him.
He was a first ballot Hall of Famer in 2015 and his number 45 has been retired by the Red Sox.
