Today, I wasn't suppose to work but I did anyway. I was thinking what I could do to impact life since I'm not having money to give people. However, the little knowledge I acquired, I must not keep it to myself which is why I never stop teaching even when I knew there is no money there.
After giving the students classwork and answer the question with them, I asked them how they think they could be relevant. Many of them ignorantly say, money makes someone to be relevant. I had to tell them that before you actually the money what would they have done?
Does being relevant have to do with the amount of money you have in your bank account?
Becoming a relevant person is a process and anyone that must embark on that journey must be intentional
Is there anybody born ? Maybe a royal blood that is predestinated to be king or chief! To me, I believe 'Nobody' was born being relevant, relevance is earned, what makes you relevant is life transforming influence you wield over people.
In the process of becoming relevant there is tendency of being perceived as "proud" because your equals will become so uncomfortable with the new development, but that shouldn't be a problem.
What makes you relevant is the problem you have solved, the help you have rendered to people and the level of impact you have made.
We have some inference in the bible, i believe many know the story of Joseph who became relevant in the land of Egypt because he interpreted the dream of Pharaoh and gave solution to the problem of scarcity that would have befallen the nation in the future.
So i told my student that being relevance is determined by how many lives you have touched and how many people you have changed their story.
Another inference from the bible; Do you know that a little recommendation can make you relevant, just like the young girl in Naaman's house. ''then she said to her mistress, '' if only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! For he would heal him of his leprosy.''
Similarly, Dorcas was relevant because of her good works and charitable deeds which she did.
I concluded by saying that your journey to relevance measure your importance and worth by the value you add to lives around you along the way.
To be relevant you have to stretch and look beyond yourself.
