Adese didn't desire to quit his job. It was not planned but something came up. His manager where he worked accused him of a mistake that deep down Adese didn't make. That has been ongoing for some months between him and his manager and this one is like the last domino that is just actually about to fall. "I am done" that was the words that came out from him. He began to pack his things from the office and walked out just at the front door of the company, anticipating what the world would have to offer to her ahead.
Due to the frustration he has constantly faced in the company, he decided to leave that company without a plan of what to do next after quitting. His part was divided into two. As he walks down the street, one part of him is proud that he made the decision without looking back, and the other part of him is anxious because he begins to realise the gravity of what he has done. Bills begin to flow through his mind. He has rent, which is about to be due in the next three weeks, to clear, and right now; he has used all his savings plans.
Every day, the reality starts getting clearer. He keeps getting no responses even though he sends resumes every blessed day out. His phone remains silent and it looks like the domino is tipping over. His bank account begins to get seriously empty, and he gets to a time and he finds himself in his best friend's house, David. "Can you lend me some space just for a few days"
David, as a friend, is quite understanding. He offers him some space in his house to squat as Adese house rent has expired. The job market seems to be getting heartless on the face of Adese every blessed day. Things are not working in his life as before any longer. He begins to wonder if he has not made the mistake of quitting the job fetching him some income. Those thoughts run through his mind every day.
"No! I can not continue my life like this," Adese says to himself one particular morning after looking at all his job applications for the month, and none click. The door opened and David came in right with a very frustrated face on his face.
"Guy, We need to talk to", David said, as he found a chair beside him. "Adese, don't get me wrong, you are my gee oo, but how far na, you have been here for the past 2 months. I am trying to help as a friend but Adese, you need to also help yourself at this time. What is your plan? Have you called those you were working with back then? Maybe there can still be a slot left."
"David, forget that part; I am not returning to that place ever." Even after saying those words, he knew David was right. One of the things that has been affecting Adese is swallowing his pride to work in that place.
That faithful evening, Adese sat down thinking about everything. His financial situation, what David said and his dream future seems to be far away from him at this current time. Without hesitating any longer, he picked up his former boss's number to call.
"Is this Adese?" That was his first response from his boss. "I was not expecting you to call"
"Manager, I knew I left in a very bad way which I am at fault. I want to apologise; I should not have quit or walked out of the job just like that. "I don't know, sir, if there is still a slot for me to return?"
There was a very long pause as Adese anticipated a positive response from his manager. "Well, Adese, since you left, we have been struggling to get your replacement as you are too good at what you do. I will get back to you because I will need to discuss it with the HQ.
There was this joy and peace that flowed through Adese body all through. At that point, he was not sure whether he should shout or cry. At that particular time, he looks like his shoulders have been reduced from the heavy burdens.
But even with that, returning to the office was not as simple as he was expecting. At first, his colleagues at the workplace were giving him an awkward attitude of hatred and jealousy. But this time around, Adese was more than determined to prove to everyone in that company that he deserved a second chance.
In the end, it looks like the domino effect didn't destroy his life; it only helped to reshape it for the better. Adese was able to pick a life lesson from this, and that is, every decision can change things completely at the tip of the finger.
