Hello Steemit community,
Although I am primarily a comedian, this post is 100% earnest, even solemn. I believe the current societal/economic system is desperately flawed, and dangerous. I believe social media is now an essential part of human life, and how it is controlled, throttled, and abused affects all of us. I am a very eccentric and eclectic person with deep emotions and a sensitive heart. Some of my views are offensive to some, some of my content would be considered inappropriate. That said, I'm a human being, I didn't ask to come into this world (that I know of), and I'm doing my best. On platforms such as Twitter, I am very confident that I have been 'shadowbanned' because of certain positions I've taken. I believe the same is true for youtube. I cannot tell you how hurtful this is to me as an entertainer. My livelihood depends on creativity and promotion, primarily through social media.
And concerning the financial system, it is totally corrupt and broken. The haves and the have-nots, the super rich and the slave class, the winners and the losers. These monsters crashed the world economy in 07-08, and basically no one who was really responsible saw jailtime. Meanwhile, people are serving decades in prison for minor financial hiccups. I believe that, generally speaking, cryptocurrency has the potential to put the financial power back in the hands of the people. Not just Americans, not just the West, but anyone who can access the internet every so often. I want African tribespeople using anonymous crypto to do their bartering. Very exciting stuff.
Humanity doesn't have to settle. We don't have to just sit back and take it on the chin. There are more of us than there are of them. I know that Steemit may be the Napster of decentralized social media, I recognize that it might not survive, might even be attacked by those who seek to power at all costs. But if I'm reading the bones right, Steemit is the tip of the spear, and I am willing to champion this platform with vigor. Let us keep this a place where free speech, kindness, love and equity are held up as high virtues. I'm excited to be a part of the Steemit community.
