I'm not going to pretend I know psychology that well despite how my job is related to it. What I do know is what I can see in practice over what the text book says and often patients don't really come in like what the textbook says yet somehow they show a similar pattern to what you would expect as mentioned in textbooks. There's no theory that fits all unfortunately when it comes to psychodynamic formulation but we just pick which one is the closest.
