It is a truly difficult situation; adapting to life with limitations involves a process of grieving, coming to terms with the reality, and adjusting.

I see so many young people with disabilities trying to live happy lives—because, after all, being alive is something to celebrate, whatever our circumstances... But it is all a process... and I imagine having supportive friends makes it easier.
