Today wasn’t very hectic at work. One of things I was working on was serpentines.
We screw the piece of wood onto some fibreboard in order to hold it.
First we trace the outline of the piece onto the fibreboard in order to know where to put the screws and so we can align the blanks.
Then we attach a piece of wood that is already planed down to the correct thickness and slightly wider than the finished piece will be.
The first pass is done with a “rougher” router bit.
We keep the safety hood down while it’s carving the piece. That bit turns at around 17,000 RPM, and it sometimes throws pieces of wood.
After that, we use a drill bit to drill the holes.
And finally, we make a final pass with a “finisher” router bit.
In case you’re curious, here’s a picture of my computer screen. Up top you can see the piece and the contour lines that the tools will follow. On the bottom left is a list of variables. The middle section has the list of processes that makeup the program, and on the right is the parameters for the tool that is selected from the list in the middle.

It’s hard to make each post interesting, so I hope that this kind of post can be at least more interesting than just saying that I got my steps from moving around at work.
