There are many creatures or beings that are usually part of the horror genre, which have made inroads or become part of other genres, among them we have vampires and werewolves.
Last week, while I was looking for something interesting to watch, a selection of titles appeared on Disney+ related to the celebration of Halloween and among them caught my attention a series by the name of:
Heirs of the Night
This series although it is aimed at teenage audiences, has an interesting plot which focuses on the surviving clans after a war between vampires, these five clans are The Dracas of Norway, The Vamalia d ' Allemage, The Nosferas of Italy, The Pyras of France, The Vyrads of England, The Lycana of Ireland.
Now, an important part of the plot is that the blood of Dracula's wife, mixed with his tears, gave rise to 13 rubies that are possessed by these clans, which give a gift or special power to each clan, during the vampire civil war some clans were left with the rubies of others to defeat them which meant that they could also make use of their gifts.
Now, among the vampires there is a prophecy, so for some reason these clans, which distrust each other, come to an agreement that the heirs of the remaining clans, take classes in a school for vampires, which is intended to learn from the other clans.
In the midst of all this, Dracula appears, who has been asleep for centuries, with the purpose of resurrecting his wife, for this he has to recover the rubies and thus turn everyone into vampires, plunging the world into darkness.
The creation of the school makes the heirs of the clans, even with their differences, unite and decide to fight against Dracula and at the same time vampire hunters.
The protagonist of the series is a young vampire named Alisa von Vamalia who happens to be the chosen one and last bearer of the Spark that is nothing more and nothing less than the last bit of Dracula's humanity, so this young woman along with a group of heirs and humans fight to stop Dracula.
Now, in this series the interesting part is first that division between clans, which is mainly notable not only for its unique powers, also by their eye color, as each clan has a different color, on the other hand, how each clan to be determined to be superior to the other, for their ancient rivalries, but this manages to overcome thanks to their heirs.
It is also notorious and interesting to see how there is a difference, which we could call social, between the pure blood vampires, that is, those who were born vampires and the so-called shadows, who are people turned into vampires after being bitten, who become servants of the families and are not entitled to certain things.
As I already pointed out, being a series aimed primarily at young audiences and in it there is what we could call a love triangle between Alisa von Vamalia a young human named: Hindrik and the heir of the Dracas: Lars de Dracas.
So far this series consists of two seasons of 13 chapters each and is of Norwegian origin, so we see sometimes the participants speak in different languages with subtitles, which I find acceptable, respectable and praiseworthy, also this series is based on a series of books of the same name whose author is Ulrike Schweikert.
Finally, we are waiting for a possible 3rd season, since at the end of the second and being based on a series of books, we know that there is still a good part of the story to tell, so if you like vampire stories this is a good option to spend time with a series that although it does not have great effects has a good plot and will keep you glued to the screen, it is also available on Apple TV and in French on Prime video.
Existen muchas criaturas o seres que forman que por lo regular formar parte del género terror, los cuales han logrado incursionar o formar parte de otros géneros, entre ellos tenemos a los vampiros y hombres lobos.
La semana pasada, mientras buscaba algo interesante para ver, apareció una selección de títulos en Disney+ relacionados con la celebración de Halloween y entre ellos llamo mi atención una serie de nombre:
Herederos de la Noche
Esta serie aunque está dirigida al público adolescente, tiene una interesante trama la cual se centra en los clanes sobrevivientes luego de una guerra entre vampiros, estos cinco clanes son Los Dracas de Noruega, Los Vamalia d ' Allemage, Los Nosferas de Italia, Los Pyras de Francia, Los Vyrads de Inglaterra, Los Lycana de Irlanda.
Ahora bien, parte importante de la trama es el que la sangre de la esposa de Drácula, mezclada con las lágrimas de este, dieron origen a 13 rubíes que son los que poseen estos clanes, los cuales otorgan un don o poder especial a cada clan, durante la guerra civil vampira unos clanes se quedaron con los rubíes de otros al derrotarlos lo que implicaba que también podían hacer uso de sus dones.
Ahora bien, entre los vampiros hay una profecía, así por alguna razón estos clanes, los cuales desconfían de ellos entre sí, llegan a un acuerdo para que los herederos de los clanes que quedan, tomen clases en una escuela para vampiros, la cual tiene el propósito de aprender de los otros clanes.
En medio de todo esto hace aparición Drácula quien ha estado dormido por siglos, con el propósito de resucitar a su esposa, para ello tiene que recuperar los rubíes y así convertir a todos en vampiros sumergiendo al mundo en la oscuridad.
La creación de la escuela logra que los herederos de los clanes, aun con sus diferencias, se unan y decidan luchar en contra de Drácula y al mismo tiempo de cazadores de vampiros.
La protagonista de la serie es una joven vampira de nombre Alisa von Vamalia quien resulta ser la elegida y última portadora de la Chispa que es nada más y nada menos que la última pizca de humanidad de Drácula, así esta joven junto a un grupo de los herederos y humanos lucha por detener a Drácula.
Ahora bien, en esta serie la parte interesante es primero esa división entre clanes, la cual principalmente es notable no solo por sus poderes únicos, también por su color de ojos, ya que cada clan posee un color diferente, por otra parte, el cómo cada clan al estar empeñado en ser superior al otro, por sus antiguas rivalidades, pero esto logra superarse gracias a sus herederos.
También es notorio e interesante ver como existe una diferencia, la cual podríamos llamar social, entre los vampiros de sangre pura, es decir, los que han nacido vampiros y las llamadas sombras, que son personas convertidas en vampiros tras ser mordidos, los cuales se convierten en sirvientes de las familias y no tienen derecho a ciertas cosas.
Como ya señalé, al ser una serie dirigida principalmente el público joven y en ella hay lo que podríamos llamar un triángulo amoroso entre Alisa von Vamalia un joven humano de nombre: Hindrik y el heredero de los Dracas: Lars de Dracas.
Hasta ahora esta serie consta de dos temporadas de 13 capítulos cada una y es de origen noruego, por ello vemos unas veces a los participantes hablar en diversos idiomas con subtítulos, lo que me parece aceptable, respetable y loable, además esta serie está basada en una serie de libros del mismo nombre cuya autora es Ulrike Schweikert
Finalmente, estamos a la espera de una posible 3.ª temporada, ya que al finalizar la segunda y al estar basada en una serie de libros, sabemos que todavía hay una buena parte de la historia por contar, asi que si te gustan las historias de vampiros esta es una buena opción para pasar el rato con una serie que aunque no posee grandes efectos tiene una buena trama y te mantendrá pegado a la pantalla, además está disponible en Apple TV y en francés en Prime video.
