"Hand to Hand" is one of my favorite acrobatic skills to teach and practice. This skill takes a lot of body awareness. The key to a successful hand to hand is knowing how to stack the hand stand and working well with your partner. Hand to Hand is a skill that is an on going journey to perfect and improve. The possibilities where you can take this skill are endless, for example; one arm, throwing the hands to grabbing the feet.
At first we practice this skill low on the ground. It makes this skill safer and gives the flyer more confidence and eliminates some fear. I have been practicing this skill with @karensuestudios for a long time before we started standing with it. The flyer needs to get use to holding a straight line, stack their arms, shoulders, and hips. Practicing these holds on the ground will help the flyer build strength and endurance that is needed to progress with this skill.
This is a great way to practice and do skills you are not completely confident with practicing on solid ground. I can throw @karensuestudios off me and she will be safe, as long as she doesn't belly flop 😜
After practicing lots of drills and building strength and balance, you can then take it high. This was @karensuestudios first time doing standing hand to hand. She did awesome! I am super excited to practice this skill and see her progress over time.
