It's been over a month since OCDB went full manual and we are enjoying the effects it has had so far, not only our own curation but also the other previous bid bots that have started curating. Curation has become fun again, even those who mainly just attempt to curation snipe are trying to do it on posts they believe we would curate which shows how the new EIP works in a way as they don't just throw votes randomly anymore or only go for the popular authors but have understood that voting on posts that have very low rewards and may receive a bigger vote later is way more profitable. Although often times some of those posts have already been well rewarded and we attempt to curate as wide as possible for a healthy distribution, we have not refrained from voting on great posts that other "bid bots" have curated as a thanks for curating.
We at OCDB have not been aiming for high curation rewards by voting on posts early but instead focused on rewarded both the authors and other curators and in a way that seems to be doing wonders for the #oc tag and our feed which can be viewed at steemit.com(steempeak.com)/@ocdb/feed, welcome to look in there and curate as we check those daily + a ton of other places. At the same time we have also been supporting other curation projects and will be continuing to do so for the near future on top of the Gods Unchained curation initiative we have started recently to give gamers a platform free from censorship where they can express their opinions freely as even they are being silenced in this day and age.
We are looking forward to the future and especially the upcoming communities where we will do our best to incubate communities and give them a kickstart in curation if we think they have long term value and potential of growth.
On top of everything we are still actively downvoting authors that purchase profitable votes from bid bots to encourage curation or the bid bots to not sell profitable votes in the future and turn hybrid.
Here is our curation in the past month click on this link for more details on the accounts:
To note, the 2.1% on the @ocd account has been on the Inktober posts where 50% of the rewards go to an "end of the month" surprise we have for the winners and the rest of the rewrds go directly to judges while daily winners receive big upvotes from our account. The other case were the Onboarding compilation post as with those there is so much effort that goes into onboarding content creators, guiding them through the beginning of their Steem journey and continuously curating them when they post that a higher upvote for that effort was warranted. Especially since we've been facing a lot of downvotes lately.
With that said we are still undecided on how to mitigate abusive downvotes, once we know how we will move forward with that it will not only be used on our own accounts and efforts but on the community as a whole who get downvoted from the usual suspects who do it only out of spite or other destructive reasons.
Lastly another addition that we will be upvoting with the OCDB account are the "sharing is caring" posts as 80% of the rewards go back to the sharers and the authors of who's posts they've shared while the rest goes to one of our team members who takes care of the whole process. We think being transparent with the community is important and believe that incentivizing these efforts more will only do Steem and Steemit good in the long haul.
We look forward to your opinions on the matter and other things you may want to point out about this post. Thanks for reading!
Oh and, if you like what we are doing and would like to delegate to our efforts and receive 85% of curation rewards back (where 5% go into a tipping pool to be used to tip content creators outside of Steem in the near future), here is a simple link to delegate (just change the amount to whatever you would prefer): https://app.steemconnect.com/sign/delegate-vesting-shares?delegatee=ocdb&vesting_shares=1000%20SP
Other than that, we have a witness: ocd-witness you can vote on here: https://steemitwallet.com/~witnesses and remember to check our daily selection of authors we curate with @ocd!
