reducing my gaming time to be not much more efficient.jpg

A week ago, I wrote a post about finding back my creative side. I realized that I was losing too much time for things that didn't matter that much to me. I was filling my days with small repetitive tasks that are making me feel useful but that don't really contribute to reach the targets I set for myself.

I took a decision regarding that. I stopped playing Splinterforge that took a lot of my time and became a bit repetitive and I also stopped playing with one of my Splinterlands accounts. I had 4 accounts, then 3 and now I'm just playing two accounts. After so long playing this game, I have the feeling that two accounts are by far enough.

By taking these steps, I managed to reduce the number of repetitive daily tasks that were eating up my time. But after a week, I'm still not where I want to be.

Eat that Frog

This is the title of a book and I want to mention it because my wife has bought it for me. It's a great book. It decorates nicely my night table and one day I might read it. It's actually not a big book but as I'm procrastinating stuff in life, it seems I do the same in the regard to the book. On my last post, a person actually suggested me to read the book as well. It seems the universe is conspiring to make me read it. Well, I haven't started yet and I believe it's another sign that I didn't assimilate the lesson.

Basically, the book seems to imply that we should do the tasks that cost us most effort before all the others. I really need to do that.

The problem with habits

A lot of self-help books are about good habit building. The problem is that it's much easier to build bad habits when we let ourselves go. We take the easy way (or at least I do) and after a while our habit is to always take that way. I believe it's human kind to go for the easy alternative. That's probably why we invented stuff like washing machines, dish washers, smartphones... We love to make our days easier because we all have this inner laziness somewhere (some more than others).

With every bad habit that I acquire, I have the feeling that my life goes into a direction that I'm not happy about. Before developing good habits, I need to make sure that I don't develop bad habits in the meantime. I always feel that it's very easy to map out what I want to do but it's totally different to actually do it. It works well one day, then maybe a second but that's about it. A week later, we are back at square one...

Age doesn't help

When I remember how I was in my twenties and thirties, I have to say that I can't keep up with my former self. I was doing a lot of sports and I prided myself to always take new routes when I went for a run. Nowadays, I'm happy if I go for a run once a week and I always make the same lap. New stuff requires energy that I don't seem to have anymore. It's just an image of how the trend goes. I'm probably not the only one in this situation.

Well let's come back to my struggle to be more creative on hive. I actually manage to create more posts than previously and I also find that I have more time. So things are improving and maybe I'm too hard on myself and I should give it some time. Well anyway, I will keep you posted to tell how things are going...
