Crypto prices are going up and how this will affect activity on Hive
I've been around on the blockchain for quite some time. According to hiveblocks, it's now 74 months but sometimes I question their way of counting. According to them, that would be more than 6 years but I joined in 2018. Something doesn't add up... Anyways, I have been here for a very long time and I was active without bigger gaps of time. Of course, I might have skipped a week or two but there was almost never a month in which I hadn't created at least one post.
It seems we are touching the end of the bear market. I don't trust it yet but it seems that the general consensus is that we are starting the next bull market. Let's agree on that for this post.
From my experience activity on Hive will go up
In all this time, I have seen plenty of times a great correlation between the activity on Hive and the price of crypto. When prices go up, people create much more posts. When prices go down, only the hardcore people go on posting. This happened over and over again. I don't think it will be different now.
If prices of tokens continue to climb, I believe that a lot of people will come back to hive and start posting again. When this is the case, it gets actually more difficult for everybody to earn hive because the reward pool doesn't change. So when prices go up, more people post and authors in general earn less from their posts. They don't realize it because it seems that their post payouts has more value. Of course, expressed in USD this is the case but people actually earn less in terms of Hive.
Fill your bags when people are away
That's why people who went on posting in the bear market had it actually much easier to fill their bags. There were less people posting but the reward pool was the same, or even bigger. Now these people have more hive and hive gets more expensive and they simply have more wealth...
I congratulate all the hardcore people who have been active on Hive in the bear market. I hope they increased their Hive Power and can now reap the benefits...
