I had this crazy idea on the 1st of November 2021 to power up 1000 Hive during the Hive Power Up Day. Then I repeated the same operation on the 1st of December and again on the 1st of January. Now that I have started this habit, I don't want to stop it and I just powered up another 1000 Hive !
I'm quite happy how I managed to explode my Hive power during the last months. I had 16'275 Hive Power prior to the first power up at the end of October 2021. Today, I have 21'206 Hive Power. This means that in addition to the 4'000 Hive that I powered up, my account grew organically by 1000 Hive in this time frame from post and curation rewards.
This is the big question that I have to ask myself. I financed most of these power ups with a couple of gold foil legendary cards and untamed packs that I sold for record prices. Now, it will become much more difficult to collect 1000 hive until the next HPUD. But who knows maybe I will manage again ;-).
There are plenty of good reasons to power up hive. I get more powerful upvotes and more curation rewards. However, I believe that the biggest thing that lies ahead for owners of Hive Power will be the possibility to delegate RC to programs and apps. There are a lot of efforts in making this possible and it will probably be implemented with the next hardfork. In my opinion, this will add an additional income potential to hive. Being able to rent out resource credits could be independent from using the hive power. It could give a huge boost to the return for holding hive power. If this is the case, the price of Hive will probably go up quite sensibly and I will be happy to have powered it up early...
