HBD is back to its "famous $1 peg". Well... HBD is sort of there, cuz it's now valued at a bit over $1 and it was way above that mark less than a day ago. For the most part, HBD is trading at under a dollar(not your regular stablecoin) and tbh I have no fix for that.
I'm not that technical to be in this position to fix HBD. I do have faith that at some point this one will be one of many flaws Hive has, and managed to fix. HBD is nevertheless a cryptocurrency and that's what matters. But...
What is cryptocurrency to you?
This question we should be asking ourselves once in a while. The cryptocurrency concept started mostly as one that was aimed to mainly disrupt the current financial system and the fintech sector in that way. However, blockchain technology "got social" over time, it spread its roots wider than we would expect.
So, what is cryptocurrency to you? Well, Hive is what I would describe as a cryptocurrency from my point of view in the best way possible. I'm not saying it's the only project that would suit such a status, but it's one of my favorites and definitely one of the best in that regard.
Cryptocurrencies were nothing but speculative assets when I found out about them. Pretty much the only thing you could do with them at that time was to buy, sell, HODL, and not much else. That era is gone now... sort of. To some extent, we have left behind such poor usability of cryptocurrencies.
Ethereum is close to the merge and due to such an upgrade, almost anyone can become an Ethereum miner. Well, you could do that before the transition to POS as well, but all you need now to run nodes and mine ETH is just 32 coins that you're willing to stake. I don't have details in regards to the staking rewards, but...
I sure know that these coins will never wear out as mining equipment does. Let's get back to Hive for a moment, shall we... I feel like I'm not done yet with my case on why Hive is crypto.
Well, first of all, Hive is not a promise, like pretty much 90% of the blockchains in existence. It is not a bubble. If that was the case it would have popped by now and it's definitely not a Ponzi. Long story short, Hive is not just a blockchain...
Many of the blockchains in existence don't actually do anything, aside from facilitating token transactions. Let's be honest. What does Litecoin do, or Ethereum Classic or Dash? These are just speculative coins imo and with all the respect for privacy coins, these ones don't do shit in the real world.
So, what is crypto to me?
It's a currency, sort of, as I'm actually using stablecoins for everyday purchases, it's my income cuz yeah, I'm a paid blogger and I earn some staking rewards as well adding to this income stream, it's the fuck you money Friedrich Hayek was talking about a long time ago and it's the promise of future retirement money with no work involved.
Yes, it is a promise too, not just a certainty, but a hell of a viable one. What about you, though, what is a crypto to you?
Thanks for your attention,
Adrian
