Last year this time around I was spending about two-three hours a day steeming and I don't regret a second consumed that way. I was even telling everybody about it. This summer though my activity around here has reduced a lot, but I am still here and it's something I'm proud of although it's not that great of an accomplishment.
However, there are months... some many of them, since I haven't checked the trending page and read any featured article. It's because for most of my steemian life I considered it not worthy of my attention and preferred my feed for daily reading. The two main reasons for doing that were the excessive use of bid bots to get there and the low quality of many posts tagged with trending over there.
Today I clicked again on that option and threw a glance to see what's new and what's still trending. Almost entirely different the page that I opened. Almost, because still most of the posts over there are boosted using bid bots, but at least the articles that get there deserve that...in my opinion. I would definitely stance 90% of them worth to be trending.
Still haven't seen any shit like I used to see before when plagiarized content has got there or low quality blog posts were climbed on the most relevant page for steemit thanks to greedy bid bots that simply didn't gave a damn. I know that quality is subjective but a two hundred words blog loaded with two or three pictures telling almost nothing relevant has no place on the trending page. IMO.
From what I've seen now, most of the articles that got there are dedicated to the changes that took place with Steem, the blockchain, after the hardfork and although I haven't read any of them entirely I consider the current trending page much more like a trending page than before. Stuff that gets there matters, its more relevant for what Steem is than it was before.
New users that get there to see what this thing is about have something to learn about Steem, steemit, its DApps and so on. Now, although I threw a glance at the trending page a few minutes ago and noticed an improved page I don't plan on visiting it too often, but it's definitely an improvement, 100%.
What avout you, how often do you go there and what do you think about the articles being featured now compared with the ones from half a year ago or so?
