Kiev is probably the last place in the world I'd rather be right now. As of last night "the war has started" and there's no guilty party to be blamed about that... On one hand is none of Putin's business whether Ukraine joins NATO and enters the EU and on the other... why the fuck do they need to do that...
NATO getting that close to Russia is definitely a threat to Putin and also a provoking act, thus we have what we see in the world right now. It's 16:23 atm and it's probably the forth time I hear a helicopter flying above the town.
From what I heard it is a police one, but I don't remember when was the last time a chopper has flied that often over our town. Worth mentioning also is the fact that some folks in here who have served in the army have already received notes not to leave the country...
Threat of war? Probably...
We're pretty close to Ukraine and I also expect refugees to come to our country if shit gets nasty over there. From what I heard there are already civilians leaving Ukraine to Moldova and there will probably be some some of them coming to us as well. Curious how many of you know where Ukraine actually is on the map...
I can only imagine how Ukrainians feel right now. I am wondering though, knowing that Russia is not a great economical power, for how long are they gonna afford this war... I bet that Ukrainians will receive weapons from our beloved Americans to fight against Russia. It's also said that many countries have already imposed sanctions to Russia and that makes me think of one thing: Bitcoin.
First of all, Bitcoin has proved lately that's it is not behaving as a safe heaven against crises at all. It's been falling against the USD in tandem with major stocks and the correlation between it and the stock market is more than obvious. The Russian Ruble is on a free fall as well.
The National Bank of Ukraine has halted the use of electronic money following Russia's invasion as part of the martial law mandate. Probably time for Bitcoin... As I said in a few blog posts over time, I'm a fan of cash and crypto and this recipe looks to be a lucky one.
Will this event push the mass adoption and recognition of Bitcoin further?
Probably, Russia can try and circumvent sanctions by dealing with Bitcoin instead of EURO or USD and for this matter we already know that they host quite some mining power over there and there's also Ukraine which in the case of such a crisis(war), when their currency will probably devaluate a lot, will get towards using Bitcoin and "storing wealth in Bitcoin" as a safe heaven.
There's a lot of tests lately for us as a civilization and some "ships will sail", others will sink. Crash tests time incoming, that's for sure... What do you think of Bitcoin during these times of war that have started the past 24 hours?
Thanks for attention,
Adrian
