The presence of Prof. Janet Steele Ph.D became a powerful magnet to attract participants from various elements of Aceh society. In the writing class notes organized by the Aceh Writing Forum (FAMe), there has never been a total of 130 participants. During this time, most participants only at the 21st meeting filled by Dr. Sri Rahmi MA, academics UIN Ar-Raniry.
The 22nd Meeting became a historic moment for FAMe, as it was able to present leading communication and journalistic experts from the United States, as well as Director of the Institute for Public Diplomacy and Global Communication.
As a renowned journalist, he has traveled Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Cambodia, East Timor, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Burma / Myanmar, Sudan, and Egypt. With narrative journalism mission.
His arrival to Aceh is inseparable from his latest bookwriting project on "Journalism and Islam of the Malay Archipelago". As the most powerful area of Islamic values, it is certainly a duty for Janet to be present in Aceh for the perfection of his monumental work forward.
Enthusiastically waiting for Janet's presence in the FAMe class has happened a week before the "H" day. Janet's attendance messages and conversations continue in the WhatsAp (WA) Aceh Forum Writing group. The most amazing thing is the number of registrants increasingly soar every minute. Some participants also hope the FAMe provides a certificate for the FAMe class this time. In fact, 21 meetings have been held, but FAMe coaches and managers have never awarded certificates in attendance.
The request for this certificate is not just symbolic, but there is a high value for them after attending the class "Narrative Journalism" with a journalistic expert from the USA.
Another remarkable feature is the special fund of the 22nd FAMe Narrative Journalism class. To be honest, it has never raised funds for 21 FAMe class meetings. However, due to the issue of Janet's arrival, the FAMe Board directly raise funds in the WA FAMe group which is continually donated seikhlasnya by local donors. The donation list movements begin December 18th at 9:50 pm by Hayatullah Pasee, until December 20th at 00:00.
Within 39 hours of fund collected at least 3 million from WA FAMe group consisting of 200 people. Of course this movement is extraordinary, especially in the group the majority of students are constrained economy.
Another agenda to welcome Janet is a typical souvenir of Aceh that will be given to Janet after giving a public lecture. This idea was pioneered by Pemina FAMe, Yarmen Dinamika. Not to mention there are members of FAMe who are willing to grant souvenirs for FAMe class more memorable in the heart of Janet.
Another showcase, some owners of Doctorate (Doctoral), Doctor (dr), and State Administration (LAN) who have not been present in FAMe class actually participated as participants. All this does not happen unless there are important things that want to get from the figure of Janet as journalism and head of media school in USA.
At first glance, Janet's name was able to evoke the instinct of writing Acehnese society. Hopefully, after the return of Janet to the country led by Trump will keep alive the spirit of FAMe and the people of Aceh for the world of journalism. Last message, shame it felt the rich history of the region and the country itself was written by others who came away from the land of Uncle Sam.
