Hey everyone鉂わ笍
There are obviously people who support us through thick and thin. We learn lessons of all sorts from these people, I have had plenty of such people who have heard me and gave me some of great suggestions. My parents are no doubt on the top of this list. My siblings have done the same. @diabatool my sister has always been there for me with her stupid yet handy ideas.
However, this post is about someone who has played a negative role in my life as I have chosen option four in this weekend's engagement topic. I don't wish to name him but he is one of my friends and an X-roommate. Yep, he had a negative influence on me and he did all this with utter confidences as if he were controlling me.
I have been an optimistic person throughout my life, I still am. I am someone who loves to hope for the best things and I put all my efforts in that direction. What he did to me didn't seem much of a deal to me at first because it all went unnoticed. He was and most probably still is a pessimist. He always saw the negative side of everything not for himself but for me. Whatever I did seemed futile to him, including my dedication towards my studies, my blogging, the time I spent with myself, it all was nothing more than a useless effort according to him. In short, I was living with a toxic person and he used to cover his toxicity with a smile. He behaved as if he were my well wisher. I could clearly see this as his words were contradictory to his actions. This started influencing me and I was falling into despair, I could not focus on my studies and was losing my communicating skills (social anxiety).
When I felt that I had had enough and I felt that I was at the verge of losing my temper, I decided to part my ways with him. I said it straight to his face that I could no longer tolerate that toxicity in my life and I need my personal space to be respected. After much of arguments, I finally shifted to other room and after that decision, I have finally revived the peace.
Though he had a negative approach and I never wanted to bring that negative approach in my life, he surely taught me some great lessons. One of the lessons is nothing matters more than the peace of your mind even if its a friendship bond of 5 years.
A special thanks to @ayesha-malik.
The picture is mine.
