Hello from the still chilly mountains of British Columbia, fellow Steemians! I’m new, well almost new here; almost because I’ve spent a few days looking at some of your posts, commenting on a few, and upvoting ones that resonated or that I found helpful.
I decided to join Steemit and try to figure it out, it and the whole blockchain revolution, because of posts shared on Facebook. The ones shared by @thearcanebear especially really piqued my interest, they made Steemit sound so exciting! I like new and exciting so I dared myself to register and here I am, a great grandmother trying to keep up with the youngsters!
Oh, no, I didn’t lose you there, did I?
Seventy three isn’t that old, my mother is much older.
and
My mum loves expressing herself on social media
so I may encourage her to join us here.
Before teaching her though, I have to learn myself what this thing is all about. I sometimes find it hard to keep up with new and evolving technology...so...old school, of course, what else? I bought a book!! A big fat 350 page book on...The Blockchain! Love those words, they resonate: The Blockchain. And you know, I may actually learn something from this book if I ever get past the first chapter. I keep reading and rereading those first 25 pages, “What??” “Help!”
Completely different from reading Tarot cards for my friends and relatives, let me tell you.
But I will persevere.
And that's why I’m so happy to be here
To learn and share and get to know you
To be part of what looks like a friendly and welcoming community.
My interests are diverse--some are writing; travelling, seeing new views,
hearing new views; food, music, metephysics, philosophy,
genealogy, psychology, history, photography, art...
and now Steemit and the Blockchain!
I hope we’ll find some common ground
Thank you so much for reading
Now I’m going to work on how to set up a profile photo.
That little item is confusing me,
